Phileas is a local-first search engine. The documents and other content you index stay on your device. This policy explains the limited information we do collect when you visit our website, download the app, or subscribe to a paid plan.
Information We Collect
On your device
Indexed content (files, mail, connector data) is stored and searched locally on your computer. We do not transmit, copy, or have access to it. Connector credentials are stored on your device and used solely to fetch your own data on your behalf.
From our website
When you visit tryphileas.com, we use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to collect anonymized product analytics — page views, referrers, approximate location derived from IP, and basic device information. We use this to understand how visitors find and use the site.
When you subscribe
Payments are processed by Stripe. We don't see or store your card details — we only receive what we need to manage your subscription, such as your billing email.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your address and the contents of your message so we can respond. We retain support correspondence for as long as needed to resolve your inquiry and meet our records obligations.
How We Use Information
- To operate and improve the website and the Phileas app.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- To respond to support requests.
- To send service-related notices about your account or material changes to this policy.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to abuse or security issues.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Sharing
We share information only with the service providers we rely on to run Phileas:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- PostHog — website and product analytics (EU region).
- Hosting and email providers — to deliver the website and respond to your inquiries.
We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
Retention
We keep information only as long as needed to operate the Service, comply with legal obligations (such as tax and accounting law for billing records), and resolve disputes. You can ask us to delete information sooner where we're not legally required to keep it.
